Export to DWF

Export one or more views and sheets to DWF or DWFx format.

  1. Click File tab Export (DWF/DWFx).
  2. On the Views/Sheets tab of the DWF Export Settings dialog, specify which views and sheets to export to the DWF file.
    If you want to export… then…
    a single view for Export, select <current view/sheet only>.
    multiple views and sheets for Export, select <in session view/sheet set>, and then select the views and sheets to export.
  3. On the DWF Properties tab, specify export options as needed under the following headings
    • Export Object Data
      Note: Object data can only be exported for views whose visual style is set to Wireframe or Hidden Line.
      If you want to export… then select…
      the instance and type properties of objects in the exported views Element properties. For more information, see Exporting Object Data to DWF Files.
      room and area properties separately from the geometric representation, so that individual rooms and room data can be viewed with facility management software (such as Autodesk® FMDesktop), or DWF markup software (such as Autodesk® Design Review) Rooms and Areas in a separate boundary layer.
      the views and omit material texture defined as part of render appearances Texture settings for render appearances of materials.

      This option only applies to 3D DWF export. For 2D DWF export, the model in Realistic view mode will be rasterized when exported to DWF regardless of this setting.

    • Graphics Settings
      If you want to export images… then select…
      as PNG files Use standard format
      using a compressed JPG format Use compressed raster format (Selecting a low setting for Image Quality reduces image file size in most cases.)
    • Print Setup

      The Print Setup Name displays the name of the current Revit DWF Exporter settings. Click the Print Setup button to modify settings. See Print Setup Dialog.

  4. To edit or add project related metadata, click the Project Information tab. If this information is changed, the data is saved to the exported DWF files and the project. See Project Information.
  5. Click Next.
    Note: To save the current export settings and close the dialog without exporting, click Save Set & Close.
  6. In the Export DWF dialog, navigate to the target folder for the exported files.
  7. For Files of type, select DWF or DWFx.
  8. For Naming, select an option for the automatically generated file name.
  9. Click OK.

Revit exports the selected views and sheets to DWF files and places them in the target folder.

To cancel the operation, click Cancel on the status bar. If you are exporting multiple views and sheets, all of the related export operations are canceled.
