Place Free Form Rebar - Surface Distribution

Place free form reinforcement surface distribution into concrete modeling elements with complex geometry.

1. Click Structure tab Reinforcement panel (Rebar).
2. Click Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Placement Methods panel (Free Form Rebar).

3. Click Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Distribution Type panel (Surface).

4. Specify a rebar type in the Properties palette.
5. On the Rebar Set panel, specify a layout.
Note: If Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Multiple Selection panel (Select Multiple) is not selected, you automatically advance through the steps by selecting single faces.
6. In the drawing area, select the faces of the element that will host the free form rebar.
   
7. Click Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Next panel (Start Surface). Select reference surfaces adjacent to the host surface from which the free form rebar set will begin.
   
8. Click Modify | Place Place Free Form Rebar Next panel (End Surface). Select reference surfaces adjacent to the host surface to which the free form rebar set will end.
   
9. (Optional) Click Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Next panel (Host Surface). Select additional reference faces of the element that will host the free form rebar.
   Note: The Free Form Rebar selection tools rotate to the next each time a tool is clicked. You start with the Host Surface tool, then the Start Surface tool, then the End Surface tool, and then back to the Start tool. Press Spacebar to step through all of these tools, rather than clicking the ribbon buttons.

   Also, the cursor displays the current tool and information about the surface.

   • (Default): The cursor displays tooltips describing which reference surface is currently being selected. Either Select Host Surface, Select Start Surface, or Select End Surface.
   • (Select Surface): The current surface is not a reference. Click to select the surface.
   • (Deselect Surface): The current surface is a reference. Click to deselect the surface.

   To clear all selections, you can also click Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Multiple Selection panel (Clear Selection).
10. Once you select all reference surfaces, click Modify | Place Free Form Rebar Mode panel (Finish). You can also press Enter to place the rebar.
    Note: Click Modify | Place Rebar Mode panel (Cancel) to close exit the Free Form Rebar placement mode without placing rebar.
    
11. Rebar will populate the host as defined by the reference surfaces and predefined properties.
12. Press Esc to exit the Free Form Rebar placement mode.
