FileIO Preferences

Sets the global File I/O settings to determine the standard process used for opening data in VRED.

In the Menu Bar, click Edit > Preferences, then on the left side of the dialog box, select FileIO.

Options (tab)

Verify Geometry - During import, checks the structure of the geometry is suitable for rendering.
Optimize Geometry - Rebuilds geometry optimized for the VRED Scenegraph.
Max Parallel Processes - Determines the maximum number of parallels used for processing.
Temporary Path - Displays a temporary path for the files. Use the icon to the right to browse to a different location.
Converter Output Format - Sets the write format for the ATF converter. Choose from:
- OSB - Default setting.
- VPB - Select when working with smart references.
Image Sharing - Sets when images with the same contents will be shared. Select one of the following options:
- Always - Images are always shared.
- Same File Name - Images are shared if they have the same file name (i.e., base name + extension).
- Same Absolute Path - Images are only shared if they have the same absolute file path (i.e., path + base name + extension).

Show Dialog - Opens a preferences dialog when you try to import a supported file format. When disabled, the defined preferences are used.
Close Dialog on Successful Import - Closes the Import dialog once the import is successful.

Reference Behavior - Determines what happens to references upon import. Choose one of the following:
- Source Reference - Imports the references as source references.
- None - Combines all references into the project and removes the file/reference information.
Merge Materials - Merges materials when importing a CAD file.
Center to Origin - Places the imported objects in the origin of the scene.
Place Objects on the Ground - Places objects on the ground.

Adds a location for finding textures.

To add a location for finding textures, click Add, Apply, then OK.
To remove a location for textures, select the path, then click Delete, Apply, then OK.
