To Manage ArcGIS Datasets in a Drawing

Use the Data Source Manager to review information about the ArcGIS datasets in a drawing, to remove datasets and to save Civil 3D objects back to ArcGIS.

To open the Data Source Manager

Reviewing ArcGIS dataset properties

The Data Source Manager displays information about the dataset layers that were brought into a drawing with the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS. For example, you can view the type and number of Civil 3D objects that were created from each layer, such as how many alignments were created.

Removing ArcGIS datasets

You can remove an ArcGIS dataset from a drawing if you no longer need it. If you want to bring in an updated version of a dataset, you can remove the existing dataset first before bringing in the updated version.

For information about removing ArcGIS datasets, see To Remove ArcGIS Datasets from a Drawing.

Refreshing a dataset from ArcGIS

You can refresh an ArcGIS dataset in your drawing so that it matches the ArcGIS dataset online. For example, if the dataset has been updated online, you can use the Refresh option to update your drawing with the latest changes.

Saving back to ArcGIS

If you bring ArcGIS data into a Civil 3D drawing and then modify the objects, you can use the Save Back option in the Data Source Manager to update ArcGIS with your changes. Only changes to the geometry are saved back to ArcGIS.

Note: ArcGIS raster data can't be saved back to ArcGIS.

For more information about saving back, see To Save Back Datasets to ArcGIS.
