To Create a Rule that Suppresses Parts
In many situations, the same CAD assembly is used for several designs. If multiple parts are to be suppressed from each design, suppressing them manually can be inefficient. To automate this process, create one or more rules that suppresses parts based on their part name or CAD Entity group name.
To create a suppression rule using a part that is currently suppressed
- Right click on a suppressed part under a material branch.
- Click Create rules.
- Click Associate part name to Autodesk® CFD Material...
To create a suppression rule using parts in a group
This is a useful way to suppress multiple parts quickly. This rule suppresses parts that are added to a CAD Entity group in the CAD tool.
- Right click on a group name.
- Click Create rules.
- Click Associate group name to Autodesk® CFD Setting...
- Specify the Setting type in the Rule Creation dialog.
- Check the Suppress box on the Rule Creation dialog.
To create a new suppression rule
- Open the Rule Manager, and click ***Click to create a rule...***
- On the Rule Creation dialog, specify the rule name, rule basis, and CAD part or Group name, as appropriate.
- Set the Setting type to Material.
- Check the Suppress box.
To create a rule that suppresses parts by default
- Open the Rule Manager, and click the Default material rule button.
- Check the box to Automatically apply for unassigned part.
- Check the Suppress box.
- Click OK.
Note: To suppress all parts with a rule, create a Default Material rule, and check the Suppress box. Resume parts as needed using additional rules that assign materials.
