resid_heat_flux_calc

Modifies how the wall calculator and boundary conditions work to improve energy balance.

Summary: Wall calculator makes thermal calculations based on surface node residuals.

Flag:

resid_heat_flux_calc A

A = 1: on

A = 0: off

Description:

Computes thermal calculations using residuals at surface nodes. Calculating using the thermal residuals provides more accurate internal thermal surface calculations like heat flux.

This flag is on by default. The following things also happen automatically

• resid_bdry_flag_calc flag is overridden.
• Temperature clipping is turned off, which is essential to preserve the thermal residuals.

Limitations to this flag include:

• The scalable solver is not supported.
• Transient thermal boundary conditions are not supported.
• Combining thermal boundary conditions on a surface such as a film coefficient and radiation boundary condition will cause erroneous outputs.
