Sharing Templates

An important benefit of templates is the ability to share them with other users. Sporadic users often use templates created by other (more experienced) users to guide them though the process. Sharing templates is relatively easy because each template is stored as a separate file.

By default, templates are saved to this folder:

\users*username*\AppData\Local\Autodesk\CFD \Template

To Share a Template

  1. Navigate to the folder where templates are saved.
  2. Select the desired template file, and send to the intended recipient.

An alternative is to create the template in Microsoft® Excel, and export a ".csv" file. The recipient opens the ".csv" into the Template Manager. For more information, click here.

To Open a Shared Template

  1. Place the template in the Template folder listed above.
  2. Apply the template as described in the Template Workflow topic.

When a Shared Template References Custom Materials

If the custom materials are not found in a local material database, a warning message is issued when the template is applied. To resolve the issue

  1. Create the material and add it to a custom material database on the local computer.
  2. Delete the material assignment from the design, and reassign the material that you created.
