To Create a Shaft Contour (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

The Shaft Calculation feature needs you to create a contour of the shaft to analyze. It does not use the shaft itself, but the contour you draw around it.

1. Click Content tabCalculation panel drop-downShaft Calculation. Find
2. At the command prompt, enter C (for create).
3. In the drawing area, select the objects that form the shaft to analyze.
4. Press ENTER.
5. If the shaft was not created by the shaft generator
   1. If the shaft is a hollow shaft, click inside the shaft.
   2. Select the centerline of the shaft.

   If the shaft was created by the shaft generator

   1. Click Yes.
   2. Press ENTER.

The program places the shaft contour on top of the shaft you are analyzing and displays the Shaft Calculation dialog box.
