To Create a Detail View in Model Space and Place a Copy in a Layout (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

You can create a detail view of model space geometry and place it in model space. Thereafter, you can place a copy of it in a layout.

1. Click Home tabDetail panelDetail View. Find
2. To create a detail view with a circular detail boundary:
   1. Click the point to use as the center of the area to be detailed.
   2. Click in the drawing area to indicate the radius of the circular boundary.
3. To create a detail view with a rectangular detail boundary:
   1. In the command line, enter R.
   2. In the drawing area, click one corner of the area to be detailed.
   3. Click the opposite corner.
4. To create a detail view using an existing closed contour as the detail boundary:
   1. In the command line, enter O.
   2. Click the object to use as the detail border.
5. In the Detail dialog box, specify the enlargement scale for the area to magnify.
6. In the Create detail view in: section, select the Model space and layout option.
7. In the adjacent list, select the layout to create the copy of the detail view in.
8. Click OK.
9. Place the detail view in the drawing area.
10. If the default settings for detail views specify that the detail boundary must connect to the detail border with a leader:
    1. If the leader must contain bends, click in the drawing area to indicate the vertexes.
    2. Click anywhere inside the detail view.
11. Click in the layout to place the copy of the detail view.
