Describe the geometry of a woven composite for use with Composite Material Manager.
Helius PFA uses micromechanics based constituent stress fields to predict lamina failure. To correctly calculate the constituent stress fields, specific geometric information about the microstructure of interest is necessary. Within Composite Material Manager, parametric micromechanics models are solved in an iterative manner to determine the elastic properties of the constituents that produce the elastic properties of the lamina.
Three different microstructures are used to describe the different types of woven materials available for use with Helius PFA. The plain weave microstructure, the Reduced Unit Cell microstructure for satin weaves, and the Full Unit Cell microstructure for satin weaves are described in the sections that follow.
