Use a Guided Edge Group to measure edges at specified locations. Use them when you want to ensure that specific positions are measured, or when you want to measure the same points in each Measure of a document.
Note: Guided Edge groups are available only when creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines.
To create a Guided Edge Group:
- Click Form tab > Edges panel > Guided. The Inspection Group: Edge Points dialog is displayed.
- Edit the group settings, and then click OK to close the dialog and create the group.
- Play the group. PowerInspect displays a message asking how you want to create probe points for the group. To create the points by:
- probing the part, click Yes. PowerInspect switches to full-screen mode and displays the Edge Points on-the-fly dialog so you can select the points by probing. When you have specified the points, right-click the group and select Reset item.
- specifying their locations, click No. You must then enter the details using the Dynamic Points Editor.
- Play the group again. The CAD view switches to full-screen mode and displays the Guided Points dialog. A yellow triangle is displayed on the model to indicate where you must probe the edge of the surface.
- Probe the point indicated by the triangle.
- Repeat step 5 for each point in the group. When you have finished, click
to close the dialog.
