To set a target point for a probe

Move the simulated probe to a specified position in the CAD view.

If the document is connected to a measuring device, the device's probe is also moved to the same position.

Note: The Target Points area is available only when creating inspections for CNC and OMV machines.
  1. In the Machine tab, click the Target Point area.
  2. Choose an entry in the list to specify the coordinate system you want to use. Select:
    • CMM Probe Tip Coordinates to specify the target coordinates relative to the position of the probe tip.
    • CAD Coordinates to specify the target coordinates relative to the PCS (CAD Datum).
    Note: The coordinate-system list is not displayed when <no measure> is selected in the Active Measure list.
  3. To display the current position of the probe, click . The position is displayed in the X, Y, and Z boxes.
  4. Choose the method with which you want to specify the position of the target point:
    • Select the mode button to specify the position relative to the origin of the coordinate system. The button changes to .
    • Deselect the mode button to specify the position relative to the probe's current position. The button changes to .
  5. Enter the point's coordinates in the X, Y, and Z boxes.
  6. Click to move the probe to the target point; click to halt the probe movement.
