Segment mesh

Segmentation provides the ability to reverse engineer from mesh data. It is most suitable for use with mesh models composed of small, low aspect ratio triangles, which can be easily broken down into primitive shapes. Use the segmentation options to identify the different regions of a mesh, and then create primitive or general surfaces to fit those regions. These primitives can then be trimmed to form a solid or surface model.

To segment and fit surfaces to the selected mesh:

  1. Click Mesh tools tab > Create panel > Segment, and choose from:
  2. Use the displayed dialog or toolbar to segment the mesh and create the surfaces.
  3. Specify further segmentation options using the Mesh page of the Options dialog.
