Cutout Image for Appearance Assets

For an appearance asset, specify an image that will be used to cut holes in the surface of a material.

Use the appearance asset to define how a material renders in an image or a view. For instructions, see Edit an Asset.

Select an image map that defines holes in the surface. The holes have no thickness or depth, so it is generally suitable for thin elements such as sheets of metal.

Tip: For a cutout image, use a black and white image with no grayscale. The black areas define holes in the material's surface.

To select an image, click the image name. Navigate to the desired image file, select it, and click Open.

To change settings for the image, click the image, or click Edit Image from the drop-down menu. In the Texture Editor, you can change the sample size, position, rotation, and more.
