To Create a Channel

Channels are created from existing feature lines or alignments sketched in your drawing.

Create a Channel with a Feature Line Baseline

1. Click Home tab Create Design panel Channel drop-down Create Channel .
2. In the Create Channel dialog box, specify the channel name and an optional description.
3. Specify a channel style from the drop-down to apply to the new channel. If a new style is needed, click next to the drop-down and specify a method to establish this style.
   • Create new. Opens the Channel Style dialog box to add a new style.
   • Create copy of current selection. Opens the Channel Style dialog box with a copy of the settings of the currently selected style. Rename, edit, and apply as needed.
   • Edit current selection. Opens the Channel Style dialog box for the currently selected channel style. Edit and apply as needed.
   • Pick from drawing. Enables the selection of a channel in the drawing to specify its channel style.
4. Under Baseline, select Feature line.
5. Select a feature line from the drop-menu that represents the channel or click to select a feature line in the drawing.
6. Select a Layer from the drop-down list that is associated with the channel.
7. Click OK.

Create a Channel with an Alignment/Profile Baseline

1. Click Home tab Create Design panel Channel drop-down Create Channel .
2. In the Create Channel dialog box, specify the channel name and an optional description.
3. Specify a channel style from the drop-down to apply to the new channel. If a new style is needed, click next to the drop-down and specify a method to establish this style.
   • Create new. Opens the Channel Style dialog box to add a new style.
   • Create copy of current selection. Opens the Channel Style dialog box with a copy of the settings of the currently selected style. Rename, edit, and apply as needed.
   • Edit current selection. Opens the Channel Style dialog box for the currently selected channel style. Edit and apply as needed.
   • Pick from drawing. Enables the selection of a channel in the drawing to specify its channel style.
4. Under Baseline, select Alignment/Profile.
5. Select an alignment from the drop-menu that represents the channel or click to select an alignment in the drawing.
6. Select the associated profile from the drop-menu for the alignment baseline or click to select a profile in the drawing.
7. Select a Layer from the drop-down list that is associated with the channel.
8. Click OK.
