This feature allows you to use Forma Data Management with InfoDrainage to collaborate with team members on projects.
Forma Data Management is a cloud-based data management system. Files are stored within projects, which group and organize project files for easy retrieval. With Forma Data Management, you get secure access, version control, and controlled collaboration.
InfoDrainage connects directly to Forma Data Management using your Autodesk account. You do not need Desktop Connector to open or save InfoDrainage designs in the cloud.
To use Forma Data Management with InfoDrainage, you need:
A subscription that includes Forma Data Management
Access to at least one Forma Data Management account and project
Permission to view or edit the project folders that contain your design files
A signed-in Autodesk account in InfoDrainage
From the File tab, click Autodesk Projects (Tech Preview) and choose one of the following:
Open from a Project - browse to an existing .iddx design in a Forma Data Management project and open it in InfoDrainage.
Upload to a Project - publish a new .iddx design, or save a copy of an existing design, to a selected project folder.
When you open a design from Forma Data Management, InfoDrainage remembers the cloud location. Use Save to publish changes back to the same file. Use Upload to a Project to publish the design to a different folder or under a new name.
Using Forma Data Management with InfoDrainage provides the following capabilities:
Centralized storage - keep InfoDrainage designs (.iddx) in a shared project location instead of local or network drives.
Version control - each save to Forma Data Management creates a new version of the design file.
Linked file management - when you open or save a cloud design, InfoDrainage can download and publish linked files used by the design, such as surfaces, CAD backgrounds, GIS data, rainfall libraries, and analysis results.
Collaboration controls - when you open a design for editing, InfoDrainage reserves the file in Forma Data Management so other users cannot edit it at the same time. If another user already has the design reserved, you can open it read-only.
It is recommended that you understand Forma Data Management user access levels, roles, folder permissions, and project organization.
Project members do not automatically get access to all project folders. In addition to being invited to a project, your project administrator must grant you permission to access the folders that contain InfoDrainage designs.
This functionality can be accessed by setting the following feature flag in your local user settings file.
