When you transition from an older release of
Revit to a new release, you must upgrade the
Forma Data Management project and its
Revit models.
Notes:
- Cloud model upgrade is a project level operation. As a result, only the
Forma Data Management Project administrator can access the Revit Cloud Upgrade function.
- Revit users should not access or edit cloud models in a
Forma Data Management project during the upgrade process.
- Upgrading models can be a time-consuming operation. You should consider completing the steps below during off-hours or overnight when there is decreased activity in
Revit.
- If a model in a project fails to upgrade, all models in the project remain in the
Revit release prior to upgrade.
- The upgrade process applies only to cloud models (Revit Cloud Worksharing or
Cloud Models for Revit).
Revit models uploaded through the
Forma Data Management web interface or Desktop Connector are not upgraded.
- Cloud model upgrade is available only for
Forma Data Management-based projects.
- When a project contains more than 2,500 Revit cloud models, the cloud upgrade tool is not available. Copied models are not counted as cloud models.
To upgrade all cloud models in a project
- Sign in to
Forma Data Management.
- Follow the steps on the
Upgrade Revit Cloud Models topic in the
Forma Data Management Help.
After you upgrade a
Forma Data Management project and its
Revit models, be sure to complete the following steps:
To get the models ready so your team can work with the new version
- Launch Revit.
- Click
(Home) on the Quick Access toolbar or press CTRL+D to switch to
Revit Home.
- Click the Autodesk Projects link and navigate to a cloud project that contains
Revit cloud models.
-
To publish the latest version do the following:
- Single model: Right-click it and click Publish latest.
- Multiple models: To select the models, click their check boxes, and click Publish above the model list.
The Publish status, Published date, and Published by columns are updated in list view. If you're in grid view, switch to list view to see these and other details.
- To view the published models, click
(View Online) next to the search field or click their names in
Forma Data Management.
If your team uses
Forma Design Collaboration and managed sharing, after the models have been published, your team should create and share packages in
Forma Design Collaboration based on the updated versions. Similarly, your team should only consume packages based on the upgraded versions. Use the
Compare tool in Files to help identify changes in the model.
