As a
Forma Connected Client,
Revit offers capabilities that are part of a technology preview (tech preview), which means that it's new and continuously improving.
These capabilities connect
Revit to workflows powered by the
Forma industry cloud. See
Join the
Forma Connected Client Tech Preview.
What does this tech preview provide access to?
With the
Forma Connected Client Tech Preview, you can access the following capabilities:
- Reference design models that are part of a
Forma scenario across connected applications.
- Access the
Forma Data Marketplace to enrich
Revit models with real-world contextual data to make informed decisions.
- Perform
Forma analyses within
Revit, and access visual analysis results throughout the history of the project.
- Use expanded carbon analysis and collaborative insights with
Forma Carbon Insights.
In the
Revit user interface,
Forma-related tools are indicated with a pink diamond to indicate capabilities that require a connection to a
Forma scenario. Here's an example:
If you click one of these tools in the ribbon but the current model is not yet connected to a scenario or your active
Forma project is not yet part of the tech preview, an in-product message provides information on how to gain access and get started.
What should I know about this tech preview?
When using the
Forma Connected Client Tech Preview, remember the following.
General information
- In this tech preview, features are fully usable but still under development. We recommend using these features for experimentation and discovering new ways of working with the
Forma industry cloud. We do not recommend using these features and capabilities on production projects.
- Tech preview features are currently supported only for projects stored in data regions for the United States (US), European Union (EU), and Australia (AUS). Additional supported regions may expand over time.
- The tech preview is supported in all
languages that
Revit supports.
- Share feedback on your experiences with
Forma tools and workflows. We want to hear what works, what doesn't, and what can be improved. Your input will help us prioritize our development efforts.
About joining the tech preview
- For the
Forma Connected Client Tech Preview, its capabilities and workflows are enabled for all
Revit
2027 cloud models stored within a
Forma project that has been added to the tech preview. Participation in the tech preview is enabled at the project level by a project adminstrator.
- Before joining the tech preview, ask users to save and exit all of the project's
Revit cloud models.
- When the tech preview is enabled for the project, prepare to wait up to 30 minutes for the models to be processed for use in
Forma workflows.
- After the project administrator adds a project to the
Forma Connected Client Tech Preview, there is no way to remove the project from the tech preview.
Known Issues
In some cases,
Revit element geometry can be missing from the scenario when viewed in
Forma Site Design or when used during Wind Simulation analysis. This can occur after adding new elements or modifying an element's type properties. This issue can be resolved by modifying any instance property on any affected elements and saving (Revit cloud models) or syncing with central (Revit cloud workshared models). This is a known issue and will be resolved in an upcoming update.
In some cases with large and complex models, performance for
Revit Synchronize with Central operations may be impacted.
