Add Annotations

Autodesk Viewer lets you share immediate feedback on 2d and 3d designs using comments and markup. With comments, you can give more general feedback on a model. If you want to provide more granular feedback, use markups to highlight specific parts of the model with simple text and drawing tools.

Through the Comments pane of the Autodesk Viewer, it is possible to have conversations about certain aspects of a design and you can engage a design review process by resolving comments that came from your collaborators.

It helps to understand the Viewer Toolbar when adding annotations. See Autodesk Viewer Tools to learn interactive features like zooming in and exploding a model.

Commenting on a design

  1. Open the design view and click Comments. A new Comments panel will appear to the right.
  2. If desired, reposition the model. The thumbnail will reflect your changes.
  3. Enter your comment and click Save.

Markups

The markup feature has its own toolbar, so you’ll want to position the model before starting a markup. When a markup is created, it shows up in the comments panel.

To add markup:

  1. Open a design view and position it as desired.
  2. Click Markup. A screenshot of the design will be taken and a markup toolbar will appear.
  3. Use the drawing and text tools to communicate your feedback on the design.
  4. Click Save.
  5. From the comments panel, you can click on a markup to print it, take a screenshot. You can also share a markup from the comments panel by copying the link below it and sending it to a collaborator. The person will be redirected directly to the markup.
