The Local Settings options let you specify certain options that can be edited by users locally, and stored locally, without affecting any settings in a shared database. These settings override any shared database settings. Using this dialog, the user of a shared database can still customise certain local settings on their own machine, even though they use a shared database (shared map.ini file).
The following options are available to be set and stored locally, without affecting a shared database:
- Auto Oversize: This option automatically allows oversize parts to be split into different sheets without user intervention.
-
Automatically Backup the job at Key Points: With this option checked, the job is automatically backed up at critical points. The file that is created can be used if the system halts during the next run through the job. This feature becomes active the next time the Autodesk Fabrication product is started.
- Carry Over Duct Sizes: This allows the next item entered in estimating to inherit one dimension from the previous entered part.
- Carry Over Duct Sizes - First End only: This allows the next item entered in estimating to inherit one dimension from the previously entered part, on the first end of the part only.
-
Enter Imperial Dims in (ft): This option allows the user to enter dimensions in imperial form. Instead of entering in inches, it allows the user to enter in feet.
-
Estimated Dimensions: This option allows the user to enter one dimension, and a common rule, in estimating to speed up entry times. For example, for a reducer, one end's dimension could be entered, and the other end's dimension could be set as a rule, such as "80% of the original value entered".
-
Multiple Item Properties: This option gives the user the ability to customize (edit) multiple item properties. See
Customize Multiple Item Properties.
-
Takeoff Product Lists by Dimension: This option allows product lists to be sorted by dimensions, rather than by part names.
-
Use Automatic Drawing Numbers: This option allows the program to allocate a number derived from the original drawing to an estimated job, instead of the default unique numbering system usually applied to estimating jobs.
Local Settings Display in the User Interface
The options selected here on the Local Settings dialog will display with a green background, or in green text color, in the user interface dialogs. The green background or text color indicates that this setting is saved and stored locally, only on the current local user system, and any changes made to this setting do not affect the shared database.
For example, when the Auto Oversize option is selected in Local Settings, the following oversize options on the Database dialog (Database
Manufacturing
Oversize Options) display with a green background, as shown below.
Similarly, when these options are selected in Local Settings, the following options display with a green background on the Configuration Database dialog.
- Automatically Backup the job at Key Points
- Takeoff Product Lists by Dimension
- Use Automatic Drawing Numbers
These options below, when selected, will display in green text on the Pattern Switches database dialog.
When the Multiple Item Property option is selected, the right pane of the Customize Multiple Item Properties dialog displays with a green background, as shown below.
