Edit In Place associativity

You can control associativity for Edit In Place sessions in Fusion.

There are two associativity options:

• Associative
• Non-Associative

Associative (default)

When associativity is set to Associative, you can:

• Add features to a component or edit its existing features, as if you were editing it in a separate tab.
• See other components in context within the design.
• Measure to other components in the design.
• Reference the geometry of other components in the design.
• Create an Assembly Reference in the design.

Non-Associative

When associativity is set to Non-Associative, you can:

• Add features to a component or edit its existing features, as if you were editing it in a separate tab.
• See other components in context within the design.
• Measure to other components in the design.

You cannot:

• Reference the geometry of other components in the design.
• Create an Assembly Reference in the design.

Associativity when another project member has reserved the assembly

When another project member has reserved the root assembly (the top-level component in an assembly or hybrid design you opened), the type of assembly reference you create or edit affects associativity:

• Timeless: Associative Edit In Place is available.
• Timeline-based context: Edit In Place is Non-Associative.
