New Component reference
In the New Component dialog, you can create a new component in an Assembly or Hybrid design in Fusion.
In an Assembly Design: Design toolbar > Assembly > Create > New Component 
In a Hybrid Design: Design toolbar > Solid or Surface or Sheet Metal > Assemble > New Component 
Parent
Select the parent component to nest the new component under in the Browser.
External checkbox (Hybrid designs only)
Check External to create a new design and insert it as an external component. Uncheck to create an Internal Component directly in the active design without creating a new design.
When External is unchecked, Design Type is disabled and the following settings are available:
Component Type: Specifies the internal component type.
- Standard
: Creates an internal standard component.
- Sheet Metal
: Creates an internal sheet metal component.
Component Name: Specifies the name of the internal component component.
From Bodies: Enable to create a separate component for each selected body.
Note: Hybrid designs can contain internal and external components. By default,
Assembly designs can only contain external components. To create internal components in an
Assembly Design,
enable modeling tools.
Design Type (External components)
- Part
: Creates a new Part Design and inserts it as an external component.
- Assembly
: Creates a new Assembly Design and inserts it as an external component.
- Hybrid: Creates a new Hybrid Design and inserts it as an external component.
- Linked PCB
: Creates a new PCB in an Electronics Design and inserts it as an external component.
Part Type (External components)
- Standard
: Creates a new Standard Part Design and inserts it as an external component.
- Sheet Metal
: Creates a new Sheet Metal Part Design and inserts it as an external component.
Design Name (External components)
Specifies the name for the new external component.
Location
Select a folder to save the new external component in.
Activate
- For external components, check to start an Edit In Place session automatically so you can start working in the new external component in the context of the current design.
- For internal components, check to activate the new component once it is created.
