Delete support structures

Remove unwanted support structures to save material and reduce hand finishing.

1. Ensure that you have an additive setup with an additive machine selected and supports already added to your model.

2. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, click Additive > Supports > Delete Supports.

   The Delete Supports dialog opens.

3. With Selection active, on the canvas, click the body that you want to delete support from.

4. In the Support Type drop-down list, choose the support type to delete:

   • Bar Supports
   • Polyline Supports
   • Volume Supports
   • Base Plate Support
   • All

5. (Optional) To filter supports by height:

   1. Select the Filter By Height checkbox.
   2. Enter Minimum Height and Maximum Height values. Height is measured from the platform.
   3. In the Include drop-down list, choose:
      • Entire Support to delete supports whose entire structure falls within the height range.
      • Top Only to delete supports whose top portion falls within the height range.
      • Bottom Only to delete supports whose lowest point falls within the height range.

6. (Optional) To filter supports by length:

   1. Select the Filter By Length checkbox.
   2. Enter Minimum Length and Maximum Length values to delete supports within the specified length range. Length is measured in the Z-axis from the bottom of the support to its top.

7. (Optional) To filter supports by structure type:

   1. Select the Filter By Structure checkbox.
   2. In the Structure Type drop-down list, choose Surface or Solid to delete supports of that structure type.

8. (Optional) To filter supports by whether they can or cannot be translated away from the body without collision:

   1. Select the Filter By Removability checkbox.
   2. In the Removability drop-down list, choose Removable or Unremovable to delete supports based on whether they can be translated away from the body without colliding with it.
   3. Enter a Voxel Size value to control the resolution used to evaluate clearance. Smaller values provide more accurate results but increase calculation time.
   4. Enter a Clearance value to define the minimum gap required between the support and the body for a support to be identified as removable.

9. Click OK.

   The supports are deleted.
