If you have generated a preliminary mesh, you can view the mesh within the Results contextual environment before solving the additive process simulation.

  1. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, click Additive > Process Simulation > Mesh View mesh view icon.

The Results contextual environment opens and shows the mesh. The mesh is colored to show the part, the build platform, any support structures, and any under constrained elements.

  2. Investigate the mesh to make sure that the part, the build platform, and, if applicable, all its support structures, have been meshed and that the geometric representation looks good.

Tip: A sufficiently refined mesh is needed to make sure that the simulated results are accurate. Keep resolving the additive process simulation with successively finer meshes until convergence is achieved.
  3. Optional steps:

    • To switch between showing, and not showing, the edges of mesh elements, click Edit > Toggle Element Edges toggle element edges icon.

    • To open the folder location where files are stored, click Edit > Open Results Folder open folder icon.

    • To solve the additive process simulation, click Edit > Solve solve icon.

  4. Click Finish Results finish results icon.

    The Results contextual environment closes.

Tip: To re-enter the Results contextual environment, on the Manufacture workspace toolbar, click Additive > Process Simulation > Mesh View mesh view icon.

If the mesh needs refining, you can update the settings.
