Part Handling

Part handling enables you to move the part between the main spindle and the secondary spindle, also called a subspindle.

Use the following commands to set up part handling operations:

Then you can perform turning operations on the other side of the part.

If you're not doing a full transfer, you may want to use one of these commands. You can also use these commands to hold the part during a Turning Part (cut off) operation.

Part Handling operations support turning operations and don't result in creating any toolpaths. The post is responsible for outputting the necessary code.

Note: Postprocessor modifications may be needed to use these functions on your machine.

A common workflow example for Part Handling

Subspindle Chuck will extend. subspindle chuck
The chuck will feed to the clamp depth and grab onto the part. subspindle chuck
If it's a bar feed process, a Turning Part toolpath might be used to cut off the part. subspindle chuck
Subspindle Return will return to its home position. subspindle chuck
