Part Handling

Part handling enables you to move the part between the main spindle and the secondary spindle, also called a subspindle.

Use the following commands to set up part handling operations:

Then you can perform turning operations on the other side of the part.

If you're not doing a full transfer, you may want to use one of these commands. You can also use these commands to hold the part during a Turning Part (cut off) operation.

Part Handling operations support turning operations and don't result in creating any toolpaths. The post is responsible for outputting the necessary code.

Note: Postprocessor modifications may be needed to use these functions on your machine.

A common workflow example for Part Handling

Secondary Spindle Chuck will extend. secondary spindle chuck
The chuck will feed to the clamp depth and grab onto the part. secondary spindle chuck
If it's a bar feed process, a Turning Part toolpath might be used to cut off the part. secondary spindle chuck
Secondary Spindle Return will return to its home position. secondary spindle chuck
