Part Handling

Part handling enables you to move the part between the main spindle and the secondary spindle, also called a subspindle.

Use the following commands to set up part handling operations:

• Subspindle Grab to move the subspindle to the main spindle and clamp on a part.
• Subspindle Return to transfer the part to the subspindle's home position after the main spindle unclamps the part.

Then you can perform turning operations on the other side of the part.

If you're not doing a full transfer, you may want to use one of these commands. You can also use these commands to hold the part during a Turning Part (cut off) operation.

Part Handling operations support turning operations and don't result in creating any toolpaths. The post is responsible for outputting the necessary code.

A common workflow example for Part Handling

Subspindle Chuck will extend.
The chuck will feed to the clamp depth and grab onto the part.
If it's a bar feed process, a Turning Part toolpath might be used to cut off the part.
Subspindle Return will return to its home position.
