You can open a design with PMI in Fusion by:
Sending a design from Inventor to Fusion as an AnyCAD file.
Uploading an Inventor, CATIA, NX, or STEP file to the Data Panel as a Fusion (*.f3d
) file.
An AnyCAD file lets you reference designs created in Inventor directly in Fusion, while maintaining the original file type. The AnyCAD file in Fusion is linked to the original file in Inventor, so changes in Inventor can be displayed in Fusion.
In Inventor, send the design to Fusion.
The design opens in Fusion, in the Design workspace.
In Fusion, on the Design workspace toolbar, click Workspace menu > Manufacture.
If you update the original design in Inventor and upload a new version, in Fusion, in the Design workspace, the Out of Date icon on the Application bar, and in the timeline, indicates that the linked design is out of date. If needed, right-click the icon to get the latest version of the design.
Uploading a file created in another CAD application creates a Fusion (*.f3d
) file in the Data Panel, which is not linked to the original file.
In Fusion, on the Application bar, click File > Upload.
The Upload dialog opens.
Choose the file that you want to upload:
When the upload progress is complete, click Close.
If necessary, open the Data Panel.
Double-click the file to open it.
The design opens in the Design workspace.
On the Design workspace toolbar, click Workspace menu > Manufacture.
If you update the original design in the original CAD application, upload the file again in Fusion.
