If your shapes, materials, and packagings are set up the way you want in the Component Sources and Process Material Library dialogs, you can create a nest.

  1. Click Manufacture > Fabrication > Nest > Create Nest Study to open the Create Nest Study dialog.

  2. In the Study tab, set general properties for your study, such as:

    • Job Quantity: Control the quantity of each individual shape within the nest.
    • Automatically calculate nest: Create the nest as soon as you click OK, instead of manually at a later point.
    • Automatic manage nest: Enables Fusion to modify, create, or delete nests if sources change.
  3. In the Shape tab, include or exclude shapes from the nest and view their properties.

  4. In the Packaging tab, you can view packaging properties; to remove a packaging, right-click it and click Delete.

  5. Adjust values such as nest position and remnant management in the Global Parameters tab.

  6. Adjust other nest properties in the Output tab, including:

    • Create manufacturing model: Select this if you plan to create toolpaths and NC code for your nests. This is not necessary if your goal is just to export nest results as DXF files.

    • Include stock: If you are generating a manufacturing model, select this to create a visual representation of the stock being used to make the parts.

If you select both Create manufacturing model and Include stock, a remnant cut will be created around the parts; see the Nest Study reference topic.

  7. Click OK to create the nesting study.

The study and its sheets are added to the Fusion browser.

  8. If you need to generate the nest now or at a later point, right-click the nest study node in the Browser and select Generate.
