Preserve Region
The Preserve Region feature allows you to hide certain regions of your model from the Shape Optimization.
Any material that lies within the preserved region will remain intact. For example, you may want to preserve bolt holes or any other connection locations that are required in the final optimized part.
You can create three different types of preserved regions:
Note: Once defined, a Preserved Region entry appears in the browser under the Shape Optimization Settings node, and you can edit the definition from there. Additionally, you can right-click a Preserved Region entry in the browser and perform the following operations:
- Show/Hide: Toggle the visibility of the preserved region.
- Isolate/Unisolate: These commands are applicable to assemblies (multi-body or multi-component models). Isolate makes all bodies and components invisible, except the body to which the Preserved Region is applied. This command makes it easier to inspect regions that are hidden because of other bodies blocking your view. *Unisolate restores the visibility of all components and bodies.
- Suppress/Unsuppress: Suppress a Preserved Region to prevent it from affecting the study results (that is, to ignore it). Or, unsuppress a suppressed region. After toggling the state of this option, you must re-solve the study to see the effect on the results.
- Delete: Remove the Preserved Region definition from the study. Re-solve the study to see the effect on the results.
- Copy: Copy the region definition to the clipboard. From there, you can paste it into a different simulation study using the context menu of the Study node.
- Find in Window: Zooms in or out and pans the model viewpoint, centering the view on the currently selected Preserved Region.
