The project and include tools in the Sketch > Create panel let you project and include geometry from outside a sketch into an active sketch in Fusion.
You can use the following tools to project or include geometry into an active sketch:
The Project tool projects geometry from outside the active sketch onto the sketch plane so that you can reference surrounding features in a design as you define a sketch.
You can filter the selection set to reference certain types of geometry:
When Projection Link is checked, it establishes an associative relationship between the selected objects and the projection geometry that is created on the sketch plane. When you update the selected bodies, faces, edges, or points, the sketch updates to reflect the changes.
The Intersect tool projects the points, model edges, work geometries, and sketch curves that intersect the active sketch plane.
When you need to create 3D features based on a model that has custom curves and surfaces, the Intersect tool captures the shape's cross-section and incorporates it into the sketch. The Intersect tool is used to copy the model's contour into the sketch where the plane cuts through the model. This is useful when the contour is an organic shape and would be difficult to recreate using other sketch tools.
Use the selection filter to project specific type of geometry or the entire model. Adjust the selection filter, then select the intersecting objects to project onto the active sketch plane. The Specified Entities filter will find the intersection of points, lines, arcs, etc. Bodies will project the entire intersecting profile of the selected object.
The Spun Profile tool projects the spun profile of 3D geometry onto the active sketch plane. A spun profile can be referenced within the sketch, in other design features, or in turning operations within the Manufacturing workspace.
You select a solid body and an axis to revolve the body around. A projected spun profile is created in the active sketch.
The Include 3D Geometry tool includes edges, work geometry, and sketch curves in the current sketch.
The Project To Surface tool projects sketch geometry, edges, vertexes, or work points to selected faces.
You select the face to project onto, then select the sketch curves to project. Start a new sketch to contain the projected geometry.
The Intersection Curve tool creates a 3D sketch curve from intersecting geometry.
You select the sketch curve, then select the sketch curves or faces to intersect with. The projected curve and the selected sketch curve cannot reside in the same sketch.
