To import data

Import data from file-based or database sources to create your base model.

1. Click Manage Content (Data Sources).

2. In the Data Sources panel, do one of the following:

   • To add data from a file-based data source:

     a. Click (Add File Data Source).

     b. Click the appropriate category for your data (for example, SHP or Raster).

     c. Open the file containing the data.

   • To add data from a database:

     a. Click (Add Database Data Source).

     b. Select the Connection Type (Oracle, MySQL, etc.).

     To use an open source provider, select Generic and then select the specific Provider.

     c. Enter the credentials and data specification required by this provider.

     Note: For a generic file-based provider, specify the folder name as the connection string. You can import multiple data sources in that folder at one time.

   • To add data from an ArcGIS online dataset:

     See To import ArcGIS data.

3. Configure the imported data.

4. Click Close & Refresh in the Data Configuration dialog box to update the model with the new data configuration.

Advanced Tips

• If the location or name of a file data source changes, click to update the information.

• To change configuration settings after import or initial configuration, select the desired data source in the Data Sources panel, right-click and select Configure.

  Note: The data source Type cannot be changed after initial configuration.
