Select Environment
When you characterize a nonlinear material in Advanced Material Exchange, you must specify the environment you wish to use for the structural analysis. If you have both tensile and compressive data, you must select an environment for each response.
If you plot the idealized response of your nonlinear material, you can select the environment to use below the displayed plot. Select one tensile, and one compressive (if applicable) environment and click Close.
If you do not view the plot of the nonlinear material, you must use the Select Environment button (Material > Select Environment).
Select an Interpolated Environment
If you have experimental stress-strain data at multiple temperatures, you can use the temperature interpolation feature to select an environment that is between two known environments. Advanced Material Exchange allows you to interpolate between two known temperature environments. You cannot extrapolate beyond the known temperature environments. This feature is useful if you want to run a structural simulation at a temperature different from the temperature the material properties were measured in. Refer to the Interpolation topic in the HIN file section of the User's Guide for more information.
To select an interpolated environment for use in the structural simulation:
Click
(Material > Select Environment).
Use the drop-list to select an available humidity.
Use the drop-list to select an available strain rate.
Drag the temperature slider to select the temperature level for the environment. The material is characterized using the selected combination of humidity, strain rate, and temperature.
Note: If only one temperature is available for the selected humidity and strain rate, you cannot interpolate to a new temperature.
Plot Filters
Use the plot filters to choose what data is displayed on the stress-strain plots.
- Measured data: When enabled, the measured (or experimental) stress-strain data is displayed.
- Fitted/Interpolated data: When enabled, the fitted data produced by Advanced Material Exchange is displayed.
- Show points: When enabled, individual data point markers along the curve are displayed.
- Show all measurement angles: Displays curves for each angle.
- Angle = 0°: Displays only the data for the 0° curve.
- Angle = 45°: Displays only the data for the 45° curve.
- Angle = 90°: Displays only the data for the 90° curve.
