Use Barcodes and QR Codes to Scan Assets
To use barcodes and QR codes to to scan assets and track them in the Autodesk Construction Cloud app, you must first configure the codes on the assets. Once configured, when you scan a barcode or QR code, the matching asset will open in the Autodesk Construction Cloud mobile app.
Add Barcodes and QR Codes to Assets
First, you must add the text values or URLs for the barcodes or QR codes to assets by either:
- Importing them using the asset import template: Enter in the text values or URLs in the Barcode column in the XLSX template and import into the Assets tool.
- Adding manually when creating assets on web or on mobile: On mobile, you can scan to add the values instead of manually entering them.
Scan Asset Bar Codes and QR Codes
When barcodes and QR codes have been added to your assets, you can now scan them using the Autodesk Construction Cloud app to quickly open asset details to view or edit.
In the Autodesk Construction Cloud app, open your desired project.
Tap the More icon
in the bottom menu.
Tap
to open the Assets tool.
Tap Scan at the bottom right of the Assets list.
Depending on your desired workflow, you can scan one asset or multiple at a time.
To see an asset's details and references, scan asset codes one at a time.
- Using your camera, position the asset's code in the highlighted box and the asset's details will open up.
For multiple assets, to edit fields like status or location or add certain references, toggle on Scan multiple assets.
- Using your camera, position the first asset's code in the highlighted box.
- Continue scanning all your asset codes accordingly.
- In the bottom drawer, swipe up to review all the scanned assets.
- To remove any assets from the list, tap
next to the asset and tap Remove asset.
- Tap Edit.
- Edit description, category, status, and location or add files, issues, and sheets as references to the multiple assets.
- Tap Save.
