Submittal Review Templates

This page explains how to create and manage custom submittal review templates to streamline workflows. It covers:

  • Understanding review templates
  • Creating new review templates
  • Adding and organizing review steps
  • Assigning team members as reviewers
  • Setting review times

Review templates allow you to define structured multi-step review processes for submittals. By planning out required and optional reviewers, review durations, and sequencing, you can increase consistency and efficiency.

To create a new review template:

  1. Click Submittals from the left navigation to open the Submittals tool.
  2. Click Settings menu and choose Review templates.
  3. Click Add template.
  4. Enter a Template Name.
  5. Select the Required reviewer(s) for the step.
  6. Select the Optional reviewer(s) for the step.
  7. Define the Review time in days.
  8. Click Add Step.
  9. Repeat steps 5-7 for additional steps.
  10. Click Save.

You can assign roles and companies, not just individual members, in the Ball In Court, Manager, and Reviewer fields for submittals.

For example:

  • Set a required reviewer as a specific company, and any member from that company can review the submittal.
  • Bulk assign submittals to a contractor company as the responsible contractor.
  • Select a project role like Structural Engineer as an optional reviewer.

This provides more flexibility and saves you time compared to manually selecting individual members for each submittal. The appropriate members under those roles/companies will be notified and gain access as needed.

Once created, custom review templates can be selected when creating new submittals or applied to existing items. They provide an efficient way to coordinate reviews across multiple team members.
