The Metrics tab provides comprehensive insights into plan performance through visual charts and key performance indicators. Metrics help project managers and stakeholders track commitments, analyze root causes for delays, and monitor task progress across different timeframes and assignments.

Accessing Metrics

To access the Metrics page:

1. Open a plan in the Workplan tool.
2. Click the Metrics tab next to the Tasks tab.

The Metrics page displays various charts and a summary box showing key performance indicators for the plan.

Summary Box

The summary box at the top of the Metrics page displays eight key performance indicators:

• This Week PPC - Percent of committed tasks completed this week
• Last Week PPC - Percent of committed tasks completed last week
• Last 6 Weeks PPC - Percent of committed tasks completed over the last 6 weeks
• Entire Plan PPC - Percent of committed tasks completed across the entire plan
• This Week Committed Tasks - Count of committed tasks with finish dates this week
• Next Week Committed Tasks - Count of committed tasks with finish dates next week
• Top Company PPC - Highest PPC among companies (with at least 2 tasks) from last week
• Lowest Company PPC - Lowest PPC among companies (with at least 2 tasks) from last week

Trend arrows indicate whether each metric has increased or decreased compared to the previous period.

PPC Over Time

The PPC (Plan Percent Complete) Over Time chart shows the percentage of committed tasks completed on time across different time periods.

Chart Features

• Timeframes: Switch between Weekly or Monthly views
• Display Modes: Toggle between Percent and Count views
• Default View: Last 10 weeks in stacked column format

Calculation Logic

• Tasks appear in the column representing the week they should finish
• A task may be counted multiple times if its finish date was updated multiple times
• Committed - Completed (Green): Committed tasks in Completed status where finish date falls in the timeframe
• Committed - Not Completed (Gray): Committed tasks not in Completed status where finish date falls in the timeframe, including tasks that were planned to finish in this week and were replanned to a different finish date

PPC By Assignment

The PPC By Assignment chart shows the percentage of committed tasks completed grouped by Company, WBS, or Location.

Assignment Chart Features

• Group By: Switch between Company (default), WBS, or Location
• Display Modes: Toggle between Percent and Count views
• Sorting: Sort by highest PPC or lowest PPC
• Default View: Top 10 companies ordered by highest PPC
• Default Timeframe: Entire project

Assignment Chart Legend

• Committed - Completed: Committed tasks in Completed status
• Committed - Not Completed: Committed tasks not in Completed status, including tasks that were planned to finish in this week and were replanned to a different finish date

Companies displayed in the chart use their associated project colors.

Root Causes for Replanning

The Root Causes chart displays reasons why tasks were replanned or had their status changed to Incomplete. Root causes are drawn from the Issues tool's Root Causes list, which can be configured in the Issues settings.

Replanning Chart Features

• Chart Types: Pie chart
• Display Modes: Toggle between Percent and Count views
• Default Timeframe: Entire project

Replanning Calculation Logic

Tasks appear in the chart according to the number of times they were replanned or changed to Incomplete status and a root cause was collected. The same task can have multiple root causes if it was replanned or moved to Incomplete status multiple times.

Task Status Breakdown

The Task Status Breakdown chart shows the count of tasks grouped by status across different timeframes:

1. Last Week
2. This Week
3. Next Week
4. Next 3 Weeks
5. Entire Plan

Status Breakdown Chart Features

• Display: Stacked bars showing task counts by status
• Settings: Filter to show committed tasks only or all tasks
• Chart Legend: Toggle individual statuses on/off

Status Breakdown Calculation Logic

• Tasks are included if their current start and finish dates fall within the timeframe
• The same task can appear in multiple bars if it spans across timeframes
• Hovering over a bar displays the specific date range

Filtering and Settings

All charts support the following filters (except the Summary Box):

• Timeframe (Start-Finish): Select custom date ranges
• Company: Filter by specific companies
• Location: Filter by locations
• WBS: Filter by Work Breakdown Structure
• Task Type: Filter by task types
• Work Type: Filter by work types

Additional filter options:

• Filters include an "Unassigned" option for tasks without values
• No results will be displayed if the used filters don't match any tasks. Remove filters to view more tasks.

Chart Options

Download

Each chart can be downloaded in PNG format representing the current view including all applied filters and settings.

Chart Legend

Click values in the chart legend to toggle them on or off, immediately recalculating the chart without those values.

Settings

The Task Status Breakdown chart includes a setting to switch between showing only committed tasks or all tasks.

Data Refresh

• The Metrics page updates each time it is accessed
• A "Last updated at" indicator shows when the data was last refreshed on each individual chart

Permissions

The Metrics tab is accessible only to:

• Project Admins
• Users with Tool level Manager permission and Plan level Manage permission

Users without these permissions cannot access the Metrics page, even through direct links.
