To Open Dynamo for Autodesk Civil 3D

Note: Dynamo for Autodesk Civil 3D is included as an optional subcomponent available for installation from within the Civil 3D installation wizard. For more information, see About Dynamo for Autodesk Civil 3D.

To Open Dynamo for Autodesk Civil 3D

  • Click Manage tab  Visual Programming panel  Dynamo  .

    The Dynamo application window is displayed.

To Open and Run a Sample Graph File

Sample graphs and associated drawing files are included with the Dynamo for Autodesk Civil 3D installation.

The sample graphs and associated drawing files are installed to:

  • Dynamo Graphs. C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D < product year >\Dynamo\Samples\en-US
  • Drawings and associated files. C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D < product year >\Dynamo\Samples\Data
  1. In Autodesk Civil 3D, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D < product year >\Dynamo\Samples\Data, open one of the sample folders, and open the drawing associated with the graph file.

  2. Click Manage tab  Visual Programming panel  Dynamo  .

  3. In the Dynamo application window, click Open.

  4. In the Open dialog box, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D < product year >\Dynamo\Samples\en-US.

  5. Select the graph associated with the drawing that you opened.

    Tip: You can select the Open in Manual Execution Mode check box if you want to prevent the graph from running automatically in the drawing.
  6. Click OK.

    The graph opens in the Dynamo editor. You can review the graph in the Dynamo editor to examine how it is constructed.

  7. Click Run at the bottom of the application window to run the graph in the drawing.
