How to regain access to Autodesk software after subscription expires

Technical Support

Issue:

How to access Autodesk software after a recurring subscription has expired.

Causes:

Here are some common reasons why recurring subscriptions don't renew:

  • Turned off auto-renewal.
  • Subscription payment failed to process or unpaid invoice.
  • Payment wasn't updated or submitted before the renewal date.

Solution:

To regain access to Autodesk software after a subscription was cancelled with status expired, subscribe again by placing a new order online or with a local Autodesk partner.

After placing a new order, reactivate Autodesk software without reinstalling by updating the license information. Depending on your license type, either sign in with your Autodesk ID or update your serial number within the software. Follow these steps, depending on your license type:

If activation method is Sign in with your Autodesk ID

Simply launch your software and sign in with your email and password. For more information, see Access with Autodesk ID-based Subscription (Sign In).

If activation method is Enter a serial number (This activation method has been retired for most subscriptions.)

You will receive a new serial number, which corresponds to the latest release of the software. Sign in to your Autodesk account to see the new serial number. You can update the serial number within your software without reinstalling it. For more information, see Update Your Serial Number Without Reinstalling Your Software.

If you are using a previous version of the software

You may need to obtain the serial number for that version from your Autodesk account.
Note: In some cases, you may need to reset the license for your Autodesk software. This occurs when the details of an expired license must be deleted. For more information, see How to change or reset a license for Autodesk software.
