Transmittals

A transmittal is a formal means of sending files to another project member or team. You can create transmittals in the Files tool in Docs, Build, and Takeoff, and also from the Transmittals tool in Docs.

In Docs, you can also view, download, and export transmittals. See the Transmittals help to learn more about how to work with Transmittals in Docs.

Create a Transmittal from the Files Tool

To create a transmittal from the Files tool:

  1. Click Files from the left navigation to open the Files tool.

  2. Select one or more folders and files to include in the transmittal.

Note: When you select a folder, all files in its subfolders will be included as well.
  3. Click the More menu above the files list.

  4. Select Create transmittal

  5. In the Create transmittal dialog box, enter a Title for the transmittal.

  6. Click the Recipients field to enter the Select recipients dialog box.

  7. Select the checkboxes next to any user, role, or company or start typing to bring up suggestions.

  8. Click Save after your selections are made.

  9. Adjust the View permissions to choose whether recipients can see other recipients of the transmittal or not. This setting only applies to members not project administrators. You, as the sender, and other administrators can always see the full recipient list.

Note: In Docs you can also adjust the previous view permissions after the transmittal is sent. In the Transmittals tool, click the More menu of the relevant transmittal to see the options.
  10. Validate the list of files included in the transmittal. Click Add files to add extra files or click next to a file to remove the file from the list.

  11. If necessary, add a Message to the transmittal recipients. The message can indicate what the transmittal is for and specify any required actions.

  12. Click Create.

Recipients of the transmittal are notified by email when the transmittal is ready to view.

The transmittal will be visible in the Transmittals tool in Docs. See the View, Download, and Export Transmittals topic in the Docs help to learn more.
