Folder-Level File Attributes
Members with Edit permission or above for a specific folder can create, edit, reorder, add, remove, and delete those folder-level custom attributes. Project administrators have manage permissions for all folders by default.

Access Folder-Level Attributes Settings
Click the Files tool.
Click the relevant folder from the folder tree.
Click

Click Attribute settings.
You can now complete various actions.
Create Custom Attributes
Members with Edit permission or above for a specific folder can create attributes.
Click
Complete the required Name and Type fields. For Type you can select from either text field, date, or drop-down list as detailed below.
You can also enter a Description.
Text field
Allows members to enter a value in a text field. You can add the following Character length and Character type constraints:
Character length: Select from Any, Fixed, or Range.
- Any: Allows members to enter a maximum 255 characters as a value.
- Fixed: Fix the value length to be an exact number between 1 to 50 characters.
- Range: Select a value ranging from 1 to 50 characters.
Character type: Select from:
- Alphanumeric: Any characters including symbols.
- Text: Alphabetical characters only. No numbers or symbols.
- Numeric: Numbers only. No symbols.
Date
Allows members to select a date value from a calendar picker.
Drop-down list
Allows members to choose from a defined list of values. You can add a maximum of 400 values of 32 characters each. The name of each value must be unique. Click:
Add value to enter individual values.
Bulk edit values to add, edit, and delete values in bulk.
Click and drag to select one or more adjoining cells and right-click in your selection to view options to:
Copy: Copies the content of the selected cells.
Paste: Enabled after you copy content. Right click and paste into an empty cell or overwrite the existing content of a cell.
Note: This Paste option is not compatible with Safari or Firefox browsers. You can still paste using your relevant keyboard shortcut such as Ctrl + V or Cmd + V.Add above: Adds empty rows above your current selection. The number of added rows is the same as your vertical cell selection.
Add below: Adds empty rows below your current selection. The number of added rows is the same as your vertical cell selection.
Clear: Clears the content of the selected cells.
Delete: Deletes the selected value and description rows.
There are also the following keyboard shortcuts:
Copy: Use your operating system keyboard shortcuts. For example, Ctrl + C, Cmd + C.
Paste: Use your operating system keyboard shortcuts. For example, Ctrl + V, Cmd + V.
Clear: Use Backspace:
- Single cell selected: Backspace to clear cell contents
- Multiple cells selected: Backspace to clear content in selected cells.
To add your new values, ensure that there are no duplicated or blank value cells before clicking Done.
Note: You can't edit or delete existing values when naming standard enforced folders contain files. However, you can add new values.Project administrators can also add the attribute to the naming standard (either the naming convention or related attributes) if the naming standard enforced folders don't contain files.
Click Create.
Click Save to also add this custom attribute to the folder you are currently in (and all its subfolders).
Edit Custom Attributes
Click the More menu
of the relevant attribute you want to edit.
Click Edit.
Make your changes subject to the following information.
Click Save.
Editing permissions for custom attributes depends on your permission level and how the attribute was added. The table below summarizes who can edit what:

Exceptions:
If an attribute is added to a naming standard and the naming standard enforced folders contain files, no one can:
- Rename or delete values in a drop-down list attribute.
- Edit character length or type in a text field attribute.
Add or Remove Attributes from Folders
Members with Edit permission or above can add custom attributes to a folder. They can also remove attributes they've added to folders. Members with Manage permission and project administrators can also remove attributes they haven't added themselves. Subfolders will inherit any attributes which are added or removed from its parent folder.
Click the relevant folder from the folder tree.

Click Attribute settings.
If any attributes are already added to the folder, those attributes will be already selected. If naming standard attributes are already added to the folder, they will be selected and the checkbox disabled as naming standard attributes can't be removed once added to folders.
Add and remove attributes as required.
Click Save.
Display Folder Attributes
Members with edit or manage permissions, and project administrators can organize and choose which folder attributes to display.
Click the relevant folder from the folder tree.

The attributes panel lists all the attributes added to the current folder.
You can now organize which of these attributes to display using search and reorder.
Search
You can search for the attributes added to the current folder and choose whether to show or hide these.
- Click the search box in the attributes flyout panel.
- Enter the name of the attribute. Only the names of those attributes added to the current folder will be discoverable.
Reorder
Hover over the relevant attribute.
Click
and drag into the desired order.
Note: Click Reset to restore the original attribute order as defined in Settings > Attributes.
Hide or display folder attributes
Select the folder attributes you want to display in the folder, and deselect the attributes you want to hide.
Edit File Attribute Values
Members with Edit permission or above can edit file attribute values for individual or multiple files.
Members with Create + Upload permission can edit attribute values for file versions they've uploaded if the enhanced permission setting is turned on.
Individual file
In the file list, click
of the relevant attribute value.
Edit or enter a new value.
If a text field attribute has character setting constraints applied and your value doesn't comply with those restraints, guidance will display detailing the correct character length and type required.
Multiple files
Select multiple files and click the More menu
above the files list:

You can edit the attribute values as required.
If you are editing a text field with numeric character type, you can select the following:
Same number: This will add the same attribute number value for all selected files.
Sequence number: This will sequence the attribute number values from a starting number and with incremental values according to the numbers you enter:
- Start number: Positive numbers only. Decimals are supported. For example, 1, 0.1.
- Incremental number: Positive and negative numbers. Decimals are supported. For example, 1, 0.1, -1.
For example if you might select 3 files and bulk edit their attribute values. If you sequence the numbers with start number 0.1 and incremental number 2, the files will have values 0.1, 2.1, 4.1 respectively.
