RED

SDK Update

The RED SDK 8.6 update adds support for clips recorded in Broadcast mode. Use the Enable Broadcast option in the Colour menu of the MediaHub's Format Specific tab to decide whether clips will be decoded using the new Broadcast pipeline or the regular IPP2 pipeline. As the Broadcast pipeline supports a reduced set of colour spaces and gamma curves, separate options are available to specify these explicitly for Broadcast clips. IPP2 clips are not affected.

The Broadcast pipeline implements only the following options:

  • Kelvin
  • Tint
  • ISO
  • Chroma Noise Reduction
  • Flashing Pixel
  • Exposure

Other options are greyed out in the Timeline editor. To switch between IPP2 and Broadcast pipelines, toggle the Enable Broadcast option. IPP2 options will be activated accordingly.

Updated Colour Spaces and Gamma Curves Options for R3D Media Format

  • The Colour Sciences have been renamed to IPP2 Colour Science and Legacy Colour Science.
  • The list of colour spaces and gamma curves is now filtered based on the selected Colour Science.
  • The ACES2065-1 colour space has been added to the list of available colour spaces.
  • The IPP2 and Legacy Specific sections have been added to the colour spaces and gamma curves lists.
Note: Support for the RED SDK 8.6 and updates to the Colour Spaces and Gamma Curves have also been added to version 2026.0.1 of Flame Family applications.
