A replay of the results throughout a simulation can be viewed in the GeoPlan Window and the Long Section Window .
The replay can be controlled by using the Replay Toolbar .
The following methods can be used to highlight results parameters during replays of the simulation:
- Themes can be used to display the changes to a single parameter during a simulation or to display SQL Expressions, which can be used to compare differences between two simulations. See Managing Themes for more information.
- Configurable labels can be used to display fixed data about important network objects for reference. See Displaying Labels on the GeoPlan and Displaying Custom Labels on the Long Section for details.
Replay options
Replay options are available to:
- Adjust start and finish times so that only a part of the completed simulation is displayed
- Adjust the delay between each timestep before redrawing the view with the data for the next timestep. It is possible to:
- Speed up the replay of large scale simulations by setting a zero or small delay
- Slow down the replay at critical points by pausing, setting a long time delay, and then restarting the replay
The options are set in the Replay Options Dialog.
Adjusting start and finish times
To adjust the start and finish times to display part of a simulation:
- Click
on the Replay Toolbar . This displays the Replay Options dialog.
- Change the start and finish time for replays by setting the current simulation time (using the slider or arrow controls to adjust the time) and then clicking the Set Start Time or Set Finish Time button.
- Click OK. The simulation will be paused at the current simulation time shown in the Time display. All the views of the simulation are updated to show the current state of the network at the selected time.
On the slider control, the time limits of the current replay are shown in blue. Any parts of the simulation that fall outside the current replay are shown in white.
Adjusting replay speed
To adjust the delay between each timestep when viewing a simulation:
- Click
on the Replay Toolbar . This displays the Replay Options dialog.
- Choose a time delay in the Replay Delay between Jumps box.
The delay can be set in small increments up to half a second, and then at half a second increments for longer delays. The default delay is 0.5 seconds.
Replay clock and run information
The current simulation time is displayed during a replay as an embedded icon in the top left corner of the GeoPlan Window. The full date and time are displayed followed by the time of the run origin relative to the currently displayed date-time. A vertical blue line is displayed at the run origin time. The clock also acts as a replay progress bar, with fill colour progressing as the simulation plays.
Click on the progress bar to jump to results at the time corresponding to the position clicked on. (To turn the embedded clock on/off, use the Show simulation time in views option on the Auto Labels and Tooltips page of the GeoPlan Properties Dialog.)
The current run title and origin are displayed when viewing simulation results as an embedded icon in the top right corner of the GeoPlan Window.
