Using dockable windows and menus

Using dockable windows and toolbars

IWLive Pro Operator Client windows and toolbars can generally be docked to any side of the main window so the information is always visible. Windows and toolbars can also be undocked so that they float within or outside the application window (which can be very useful for those working on multiple screens).

Undocking a window

  • To undock a window, drag the window by its title bar away from the edges of the current screen / page. The window can be repositioned by dragging its title bar to the desired location.

Moving a toolbar

  • To move a toolbar, drag the toolbar by its gripper Gripper to the desired location.

Docking a floating window

  • To dock a floating window, drag the window by its title bar close to the edge of the current screen / page; a blue highlight will show the location at which the window will be docked once the mouse button is released.

Docking a floating toolbar

  • To dock a floating toolbar, drag the toolbar by its title bar close to the edge of the program window or close to the menu bar; an outline box will show the location at which the toolbar will be docked once the mouse button is released.

Closing a window

  • Click the Close X button on the window title bar to close the window.

Redisplaying a closed window

  • To redisplay a window that has been closed, select the window option from the Window menu.

Moving a window without docking it

  • To move the window without docking it, hold down the Ctrl key as you drag the title bar.

Resizing a dockable window

The size and position of dockable windows can be changed:

  • To change the size of a floating window, drag any corner or edge of the window.
  • When docked, the window can only be resized by dragging one of the free edges of the window.

Resetting dockable window and toolbar positions

You can reset the size and position of the various dockable windows (including toolbars) round the main window back to the IWLive Pro Operator Client default settings. However, any changes you make will only take effect when you close and restart the application.

  • To reset dockable windows back to the default locations, choose Reset toolbars and windows from the Tools menu, quit the application and restart (you do not have to do this immediately).
