This procedure creates a data model file that is based on an existing data model template. Note that you can modify the existing data model only slightly. You can change captions and descriptions, and a few other properties.
- In the Infrastructure Administrator, do one of the following:
- Click Enterprise and connect to the enterprise industry model . Open a project.
- Click File and open an industry model drawing or template.
- Click .
- In the Industry Model Editor, click .
- Enter a description, such as Water Country Kit.
- Enter a data model code.
For customer-specific data model enhancements, use a data model code > 100.0.0. See also Overview of Data Models.
- Select Extend Existing Data Model, and select the predefined data model, such as Water data model.
- Click OK.
The data model structure is displayed in the Data Model Explorer tab.
- Continue to add your modifications.
For example, modify a caption, add domain table entries, create intersections, or add feature classes and topics. Use the context menus. They work in the same way as the Data Model Administrator commands.
- Click .
- Enter a name for the data model file (*.genx).
The (*.genx) file only stores the modifications on the existing data model, and references the data model code of the existing data model.
- Close the Industry Model Editor.
