To View or Edit an Industry Model Template

Use the Autodesk Infrastructure Administrator to view and modify the settings for any default industry model template .

To view the settings for an industry model template

  1. Log in as Map System User.
  2. Start Autodesk Infrastructure Administrator.
  3. Click File > Open.
  4. Navigate to the template to edit. Select it and click Open.

If you open a template or drawing file that does not contain an industry data model, you are prompted to create one or specify an existing one to use.

  5. Click the Industry Model node to view or edit any of the following:
    • Modules -- Pre-defined data structures. You specify a module only for a new industry model; existing industry models already have one. Generally, you include only one module per model. For example, an electric industry model has an electric module designed for a particular geographic area. A module determines the industry model schema, and specifies pre-configured forms for industry model features.
    • Extensions -- Extensions are database enhancements such as COGO, Dimensions, or Survey.
    • Units -- Each industry model includes multiple units. The specific units depend on the industry. For example, an electrical industry model includes length units as well as electrical units.
    • Spatial settings, such as tolerance. The specific settings vary by industry.
  6. Click the nodes under the Industry Model node to view or edit the following:
    • Data Model -- Use the Data Model Administrator to modify feature class properties.
    • Point Numbering -- Automatic point numbering helps to manage long and complex point numbers, and makes point acquisition more efficient and less error-prone for the field crew. Automatic point numbering applies to new point features that are imported, calculated, or digitized. By default, no point numbering is applied.
    • Data Checkers and 1-Click Maintenance-- A Data Checker validates the quality of your data. For example, define any set of consistency checks that can be executed after data has been imported. The 1-Click Maintenance plug-in verifies, fixes, and cleans up your data. You can specify which checks to include.
    • Forms -- Forms display and process feature data. You can customize the forms for an industry model template. For example, you can hide or show text boxes, create controls, check boxes, radio buttons, and combo boxes in the forms.
    • Workflows -- Workflows guide you through tasks. Application developers can define workflows, but it requires, VB .NET and API (Application Programming Interface) knowledge.
    • Feature Search -- A feature search quickly finds the location of a certain object, such as a building, parcel, or any other type of feature that has geometry. The map centers on this location when you zoom in. You can create or modify search locations.
    • Explorer -- Application developers can customize the explorer profiles for each industry model using the Explorer Configurator.
    • Explorer Manager -- The explorer lets you view and edit data. You can define explorer profiles, specify which items are displayed in the explorer, and configure explorers for each project .
    • User-interface elements, such as right-click menus, toolbars, and commands.
    • Industry-specific settings -- These settings vary by industry.
  7. When you have finished making your changes, click Save.
