You can use a Smooth Mesh Preview to view and edit what a smoothed version of a mesh will look like. Displaying subdivisions can help pinpoint exactly what a mesh will look like at varying degrees of smoothness.
To display subdivisions on a smooth mesh preview
- Select the smoothed mesh that is displayed in Smooth Mesh Preview mode.
- In the
Smooth Mesh Preview section of the polyShape node
Attribute Editor, do the following:
- Set the Preview Division Levels value.
- Select Display Subdivisions.
Dotted lines appear on the mesh, representing subdivisions.
- Drag the Preview Division Levels attribute or press Page Up or Page Down to change the level of smoothing/subdivision that occurs on the smoothed preview.
Note:
Caching smooth meshes can cause poor performance and consume large amounts of memory. You can disable
Smooth Mesh Preview using the
Cache Smooth Meshes option in the
Cached Playback Preferences.
