About material databases
Accurate data is critical to achieving accurate simulation results.
Different grades of the same material can have different properties, and selecting an incorrect grade for an analysis impacts on the quality of the results, particularly for critical features. Autodesk Moldflow provides a searchable database containing information about the properties of more than 10,000 different plastics. Material testing and data-fitting services can characterize specific grades or blends that are not currently available.
There are also searchable databases for many other components used in the molding process, such as coolants, mold materials, fillers, bubblers, baffles, etc. populated with several entries. However, many databases, such as valve gate controllers, preform element (3D), and mold block (3D), contain only a single, default entry that you can use to run an analysis. In these cases, if you have your own data, create a personal database that contains data specific to your situation, and use your personal database for your analyses.
