Working with groups, items and resources

In Quantification, takeoff data is organized in a hierarchy:

  1. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) groups.
  2. Items (such as interior walls and plumbing fixtures to be measured and counted).
  3. Objects (individual instances of the takeoff items in the sheets and models).
  4. Resources.

This hierarchy is graphically represented by columns and a navigation tree that supports multiple levels of WBS groups, allowing you to create the organizational structure needed for your takeoff project.

Create Groups

  1. In the Item Catalog or Resource Catalog, click New Group, or right-click an Item or Resource > New Group.

Create Item

  1. In the Item Catalog, click New Item, or in the Navigation pane, right-click an Item > New Item.

Copy an item or group

  1. In the Item Catalog, select the Item or Group you want to copy.

  2. Right-click > Copy.

  3. Right-click the Group you want the copied Item or Group to sit in > Paste.

    Note: To rename the copied group, double-click the Item or Group Name and type the new name.

Create Resource

  1. In the Resource Catalog, click New Resource, or in the Navigation pane, right-click a Resource > New Resource.

Rename Items and Resources

  1. In the Item Catalog or Resource Catalog, right-click an Item > Rename.
  2. Type the new name of your Item or Resource and press Return.
