Working with groups, items and resources
In Quantification, takeoff data is organized in a hierarchy:
- Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) groups.
- Items (such as interior walls and plumbing fixtures to be measured and counted).
- Objects (individual instances of the takeoff items in the sheets and models).
- Resources.
This hierarchy is graphically represented by columns and a navigation tree that supports multiple levels of WBS groups, allowing you to create the organizational structure needed for your takeoff project.
Create Groups
- In the Item Catalog or Resource Catalog, click New Group, or right-click an Item or Resource > New Group.
Create Item
- In the Item Catalog, click New Item, or in the Navigation pane, right-click an Item > New Item.
Copy an item or group
In the Item Catalog, select the Item or Group you want to copy.
Right-click > Copy.
Right-click the Group you want the copied Item or Group to sit in > Paste.
Note: To rename the copied group, double-click the Item or Group Name and type the new name.
Create Resource
- In the Resource Catalog, click New Resource, or in the Navigation pane, right-click a Resource > New Resource.
Rename Items and Resources
- In the Item Catalog or Resource Catalog, right-click an Item > Rename.
- Type the new name of your Item or Resource and press Return.
