Work with Groups for Line Balancing
Group assets or objects to combine processes for takt time.
Grouping objects to improve the cycle time allows you to combine parallel processes when calculating and simulating takt time in the line balancing chart to average out the timing of your processors for a more accurate takt time.
After running a simulation and reviewing your line balancing information in the line balancing chart, you may need to adjust your process model to improve the takt time and line balancing. For example, to improve your cycle time, you may need to add another processor to your process model. Once you add another processor, you can combine parallel processes through grouping.
To group objects in your process model:
- Drag your cursor over the objects you would like to include in a group to highlight the objects.
- Select Group from the ribbon.
- Select the Process Properties checkbox from the User Interface drop-down menu.
- Select Combine Processors Cycle Time for Line Balancing from the Group Properties dialog.
- Run the simulation.
Combined Cycle Time data displays in the purple bars of the line balancing chart for each group.
