Work with Process Properties

Set process properties for capacity, output rate, thresholds, and target quantity.

Process Properties provide the information needed to simulate your manufacturing processes so that you can identify potential bottlenecks and optimize performance. Examples include capacity, output rate, thresholds, and target quantity.

Setting Process Properties

Process properties vary based on the type of object in the process model.

Object types are:

To access process properties:

  1. Select an object in the canvas.
  2. Select the User Interface drop-down menu.
  3. Select the Process Properties checkbox.

  4. Add or change properties as needed.

  5. Close the window to save your changes.
Note: Optionally, you can access process properties by right-clicking an object or asset and selecting Show Properties in the context menu.

Changing an Object Type

There might be instances where you need to change the object type. For example, factory assets that do not have predefined process properties automatically default to the processor object type when placed in the process model. To change the type to something else, such as a buffer or source, complete these steps.

To change an object type:

  1. Select the object that you want to change.
  2. Select the User Interface drop-down menu.
  3. Select the Process Properties checkbox to view the Process Properties pallette.
  4. Click the edit icon next to the object type to display the available type options.

  5. Select the desired object type and click OK.

  6. Optionally, you can change the object type by right-clicking an object or asset and selecting Change Object from the context menu. Similarly, you can rename an object by selecting Rename Object in the context menu.
Important:Because process properties vary based on the property type, certain process properties defined for the object are no longer applicable. A warning appears alerting you that existing properties might be lost. The warning only applies to this instance of the asset in your process model. You may need to re-add connectors to the object when the object type changes.
