To specify the mounting direction of the probe

Specify the mounting vector of the probe head.

When you choose the Simple calibration option, PowerInspect uses the probe-head nominal to calculate the position of the probe tip.

Note: Simple Calibration is available only when creating inspections for CNC machines or manual CMMs.
  1. In the Calibration page of the Options dialog, select Simple.
  2. Connect to the measuring device.
  3. In the Probe Head area of the Machine tab, select the probe head you want to use, and click Calibrate.

  4. In the Probe Head Mounting Direction dialog, select an entry in the drop-down list to specify which machine axis the head is parallel to.

    Alternatively, to specify the mounting orientation, select Custom and enter the vector in the I, J, and K boxes.

Note: To use the probe-head nominal to calibrate the probe assembly, click in the Probe View toolbar.
