General Parameters

Opening the Snow/Wind Load dialog and clicking the General Parameters tab displays the following dialog.

The dialog has basic options required in the structure design by the national snow/wind code selected in Job Preferences.

In the upper part is the Altitude above the sea level option to specify the altitude above the sea level at which a structure is situated.

Note: The altitude above the sea level must be specified in meters.

The above dialog box is divided into several fields with groups of specific options. The Structure dimensions field has the following options:

  • Structure height - Specifies the height of a structure, which is used to calculate wind pressure
  • Offshore region - Increases the basic wind pressure Vb by 15 percent.

A value of the k1 coefficient is calculated based on structure classes on the selection list and the value of the basic wind pressure Vb.

The Change of loads from uniform to nodal field:

  • For all envelope bars - Changes snow/wind loads generated for all bars of the structure envelope to nodal loads
  • For bars from the list - Changes snow/wind loads generated for selected bars of the structure envelope to nodal loads. Enter the selected bars to the List field. You can select the list of bars manually (by specifying their numbers) or graphically. Snow/wind loads for selected bars are generated at bar nodes.
